Your heating and cooling system runs thousands of hours a year. Like any piece of equipment that works that hard, it needs regular attention. A tune-up catches worn parts, low refrigerant, dirty filters, and electrical issues before they turn into emergency calls.

Western Sky provides seasonal maintenance for furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits across the Flathead Valley and Gallatin Valley. We service all major brands. One visit in the fall for your heating system and one in the spring for your cooling system keeps everything running efficiently and extends the life of your equipment.

We use flat-rate pricing on every maintenance visit, so you know what it costs before we start.

What a Tune-Up Includes

Every maintenance visit follows a comprehensive checklist. For heating: we inspect the heat exchanger, test safety controls, check gas connections, clean the burner assembly, replace the air filter, and verify thermostat calibration. For cooling: we check refrigerant levels, clean condenser and evaporator coils, inspect electrical connections, test capacitors and contactors, and verify airflow.

You'll get an honest report on your system's condition after every visit. If something needs attention, we'll tell you what it is and what it will cost to fix.

Why Maintenance Matters in Montana

Montana's climate pushes HVAC systems harder than most. Furnaces run for months straight through sub-zero winters. Air conditioners work through dry, dusty summers. That wear adds up.

A maintenance visit catches the problems that become $2,000 emergency repairs. It also keeps your system running at peak efficiency, which means lower energy bills all year. Our NATE-certified team serves both the Flathead Valley from our Columbia Falls shop and the Gallatin Valley from our Bozeman location.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have my HVAC system serviced?

Twice a year is the standard: once in the fall for your heating system and once in the spring for your cooling system. If your system is older or runs constantly, more frequent checks may make sense. We'll let you know.

What's the difference between a maintenance visit and a maintenance plan?

A maintenance visit is a one-time service call where we inspect and tune up your system. A maintenance plan is an ongoing agreement that includes scheduled visits, priority scheduling, and additional benefits. Visit /maintenance-plans/ for plan details.

Can you service my system even if it's not a brand you sell?

Yes. We service all major brands. Our NATE-certified technicians are trained to work on any residential heating or cooling equipment, regardless of manufacturer.

Will a tune-up lower my energy bills?

In most cases, yes. A dirty filter alone can increase energy consumption by 5 to 15 percent. Cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and calibrating controls all help your system run more efficiently.
